A dramatic moment unfolded in Mashhad, Iran, as a woman, completely unclothed, climbed onto a police car in what appeared to be a bold act of protest against the country’s treatment of women.
The incident, which reportedly took place at night in Iran’s second-largest city, was captured in striking footage. The woman can be seen scaling the bonnet of the squad car, raising her arms, and shouting at officers while perching on the windshield.
Despite officers’ efforts to remove her, she refuses to comply. At one point, an officer reaches into the vehicle, reportedly for a weapon.
As tensions rise, another officer, dressed in camouflage and armed with an assault rifle, attempts to communicate with her. Instead of stepping down, she climbs onto the flashing police lights, waving her arms at passing motorists, some of whom honk in apparent support.
The exact reason behind her protest remains unclear, but reports circulating on social media suggest it was in response to Iran’s increasingly strict clothing laws for women.
According to local media, a man identifying himself as her husband has stated that she has since been placed in care.
