Her fiancé, Klaus Grabowski, confessed to the murder and sexual assault allegations. Bachmeier, driven by grief and anger, intervened in the trial, shooting Grabowski with a Beretta pistol. She served half of her sentence, earning her the moniker of Germany’s ‘Revenge Mother.’ Her act sparked debates about the morality and legality of her actions, particularly in the context of avenging her daughter’s death. Bachmeier was convicted of premeditated manslaughter in 1983 and received a six-year sentence. Despite the illegality of her actions, many parents have found solace in Bachmeier’s extreme response to her daughter’s death.
