Love & Hip Hop Star Apple Watts Reveals She Was Driving Drunk During Her 2022 Car Accident

Apple Watts, a former star of Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood, is opening up about the near-fatal car crash in March 2022 that left her with severe injuries and partially reliant on a wheelchair. In a candid interview on Soft White Underbelly with Mark Laita, Watts admitted she had been drinking before the accident, which drastically altered her life.

“I was a little buzzed, but it was hours later. I guess I fell asleep and ran into a truck… I was going 90 miles per hour,” she revealed. The crash caused her car to flip multiple times before bursting into flames. Watts sustained a shattered spine, a broken arm, and a fractured skull. She was airlifted to Las Vegas University Medical Center and spent four months in a coma. “When I woke up, I forgot everything and everybody,” she recounted.

Now, nearly three years later, Watts is using her harrowing experience to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. “Don’t drink and drive. Lots of people died off of this stuff,” she cautioned. Reflecting on her past, Watts acknowledged that her lifestyle once normalized excessive drinking and drug use. “I thought I was bulletproof,” she admitted.

While the injuries ended her career as a dancer, Watts is determined to turn her pain into purpose by becoming a motivational speaker. “I just want to save lives. I don’t want anybody going through what I went through,” she shared.
