I’m ditching Britain for Dubai to find a new man – I’ve exhausted the UK’s entire dating pool of eligible singletons

A mother-of-one is leaving the UK for a fresh start in Dubai, saying she’s tired of Britain’s dating scene. Jodie Weston, 30, claims the rental market, economy, and lack of desirable men in the UK have driven her to make the move.

Jodie, a DJ and model, is known for her lavish spending, having spent £30,000 on holidays for herself and her two-year-old son, Koa. Despite her luxurious lifestyle, Jodie feels her prospects in the UK have run dry. “Every time I meet someone here, we end up having at least 10 mutual connections,” she said. “I need new options. I want a man who’s ambitious, has good manners, and can handle my free spirit. I believe Dubai has plenty of those.”

Jodie has visited Dubai before and plans to return next month to find a place to live. Her past dating experiences in the UK have been disappointing. One man fell off his chair because he was leaning too close. Another date, a married man, took her to see a horror movie, only for his wife to confront them later. Her worst experience involved a man who brought a Chihuahua as a gift and became hostile when she refused it. “If a guy shows up with a Chihuahua, call the RSPCA,” Jodie joked.

Jodie also criticized London’s rental market, calling it “a running joke, like the UK’s economy.” She explained that she could get a better apartment in Dubai for half the price. “In the UK, the future looks bleak. I’ve seen places with no toilet being rented for £1,200 a month, with curfews on when you can be in the apartment. It’s ridiculous.”

While Jodie acknowledges there are cultural differences in Dubai, she feels it’s become like a second version of London, with better weather and more opportunities. “As long as you respect the culture, it’s fine,” she said.

Jodie also plans to continue traveling and wants to “world school” her son, teaching him through cultural experiences rather than a standard curriculum. “I want Koa to have a more cultured upbringing,” she explained. “I believe traveling will give him a better education and life.”
