President Donald Trump has arrived at the Super Bowl, marking the first time a sitting American president has attended football’s biggest night.
On Sunday, Feb. 9, the 78-year-old president was in attendance at the 2025 Super Bowl to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles get a rematch of their 2023 championship game.
Trump was joined by his daughter, Ivanka Trump, 43, and her son, Theodore James Kushner, 8, in a VIP suite at Caesar’s Superdome.

Before the game, Trump walked out onto the field to greet people and take in the energy of the big game.
When he was announced during the broadcast, the crowd responded with a mix of cheers and boos.
Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, are also parents to Arabella Rose and Joseph Frederick.

Other presidents have participated in Super Bowl activities, but not while in office, such as late former President George H.W. Bush, who performed coin tosses for the big game in 2002 and 2017.
“Extensive planning and coordination have been in place to ensure the safety of all attendees, players, and staff,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement about Trump’s visit, according to The Associated Press.

“Security measures have been further enhanced this year, given that this will be the first time a sitting President of the United States will attend the event,” the statement continued.
According to CNN, those increased security measures “began when New Orleans was selected as the game site back in 2020.”
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a recent press conference that following the deadly New Year’s Day terrorist attack on Bourbon Street, authorities confirmed that there are “no credible threats” to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
“Around 100,000 people will be celebrating the Super Bowl in and around the Superdome in New Orleans this weekend,” Noem noted in a press release on Feb. 3, adding that law enforcement would be given “every resource they need to ensure a safe event.”

Last month, Trump congratulated the Chiefs after their AFC Championship win against the Buffalo Bills via his Truth Social platform.
“Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs,” he wrote. “What a GREAT Team, Coach, Quarterback, and virtually everything else, including those fantastic FANS, that voted for me (MAGA!) in record numbers. Likewise, congratulations to the Buffalo Bills on a tremendous season. They will do a lot of winning long into the future!!!”
