Alysha Burney has tragically died at the age of 24 – just one day shy of her 25th birthday.
The beloved social media star – who boasted over five million followers across TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram – has tragically passed away while celebrating her birthday in Mexico.
Burney died in her sleep on March 2 in Cabo San Lucas, The Independent reports.
Her brother, Charles Burney, confirmed that she suffered an asthma attack in her sleep, shutting down online speculation about other causes.
“There’s a spread of misinformation online, stating different things based on speculation,” Charles told FOX4. “These sources lack credibility and should not be believed. My sister did not engage in environments that would lead to such situations.”
He continued: “She does not do drugs.
“She was a self-loving and happy individual who cherished her life and was looking forward to the upcoming year’s plans. She was in Mexico to celebrate her birthday. She was a very classy young woman.”
A Rising Star Gone Too Soon
Burney was widely known for her lifestyle content, vlogs, and comedic skits, earning her a massive following online. But her ambitions stretched far beyond social media.
She was the founder of ABurney Productions, a production company that had already released one film, with several others in the pipeline.
At just 19 years old, Burney was personally invited to audition for MTV’s Wild ‘N Out. While she wasn’t cast, the experience became a pivotal moment in her career, motivating her to push forward and achieve her dreams in the entertainment industry.
“Her lifelong goal was to be a writer and a director,” Charles said. “Another goal she had was to return to Kansas City, open a production studio, and help other young creatives from Kansas City get to where she was.”
Burney earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Digital Media Production and was actively working toward her graduate degree before her passing.
“She was not selfish with her knowledge and was a very open book about her journey. She will always be dearly loved, and her legacy will live on forever.”

Following the news of Burney’s passing, tributes poured in across social media. Many fans expressed gratitude for the joy and inspiration she brought to their lives.
“Alysha, I’m crying writing this. You got me through depression, girl. I was DOWN, and I found you, and you brought me back. You touched so many lives. We love you, angel. Fly high,” one fan wrote on Instagram.
