Scientists Reveal How Much Sex Men Should Have To Lower Heart Disease Risk

It turns out that having a healthy sex life could benefit your heart, mind, and body more than you might think.

Staying active in the bedroom may not only improve your relationship but also boost your overall health, according to new research. While most people focus on exercise and diet for heart health, sexual activity often gets overlooked.

A recent study suggests that regular sex can play a vital role in lowering the risk of heart disease, especially as men get older. Researchers found that an active sex life could offer significant long-term benefits for heart health, making it an unexpected form of self-care.

A team of scientists from China discovered that men who frequently have sex are less likely to develop heart disease. Their research highlights how sex helps the heart by improving circulation, reducing stress, and providing a form of exercise.

Published in the Journal of Scientific Reports, the study also noted that sexual activity could reflect overall health, as it ties to both physical fitness and mental well-being. In essence, a healthy lifestyle and an active sex life are closely linked.

The researchers pointed out that having too much or too little sex might indicate health issues. They suggested seeing a doctor if the frequency is unusually high or low. The study, conducted by Qingdao University, analyzed data from over 17,000 U.S. adults over nearly nine years to explore the link between sex and heart health.

Results showed that men having sex fewer than 12 times a year were at higher risk of heart disease and early death compared to more sexually active men. The ideal frequency for heart health appeared to be about 103 times a year, or roughly twice a week. Even having sex once a week, or 52 times a year, provided significant health benefits.

Health expert Dr. Alexis Missick explained that sex is not just good for the heart in emotional ways but also physically. However, the study found that having sex more than once a day could lead to negative effects on heart health.

Moderation is key. While regular sex can improve heart health, it’s important to find a balance that works for you.
