The impact caused noticeable damage to both aircraft. Travelers on social media shared photos of the accident, showing the Japan Airlines wing slicing through the Delta plane’s tail.

One passenger described the moment as “very scary,” saying, “So, we were sitting on the tarmac at SeaTac, and another plane ran into us, just casually sliced into our tail.”

No injuries reported following the crash
The Seattle-Tacoma Airport confirmed that no injuries occurred during the incident. The airport stated that the collision had “minimal impact” on overall airport operations.

“There are no injuries reported at this time,” the airport’s announcement read. “SEA is working with both airlines to safely deplane passengers and bring them to the terminal.”

A string of recent aviation accidents heightens airport tensions
This incident follows a week of alarming aviation accidents. Just days before the Seattle crash, a US Army helicopter collided with an American Airlines jet at Reagan National Airport, killing 67 people.

Two days later, an ambulance jet crashed in Philadelphia, killing all six people aboard and one person on the ground.

Additionally, a recent technical failure further escalated concerns.
The Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) system went down, causing hundreds of flight delays across the country. Though the system was restored by Sunday, the outage amplified fears in the aviation community.

While this Japan Airlines and Delta Airlines incident did not result in injuries, the close call serves as a reminder of ongoing safety concerns at airports.

Recent accidents and system failures highlight the importance of maintaining strict safety protocols and reliable infrastructure to prevent further incidents.
