Fear As An Ambulance ‘Carrying Kid Patient’ And Five Others Dive Into A Fireball In The Philadelphia Plane Crash

There are frantic scenes on the ground after an air ambulance carrying six people—including a small girl—crash in a Philadelphia neighborhood.

On Friday night, the Learjet 55 plane took off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport and was headed to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri when it lost control not long after takeoff.

The jet was seen on doorbell footage as it crashed to the ground and, less than a minute later, exploded in a massive blaze.

Six persons were on board the aircraft, according to confirmation from the Federal Aviation Administration. Whether they were able to escape or eject is unknown.

The FAA had initially stated in its announcement that there were just two passengers on board.

According to a statement from Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, the aircraft was carrying a young girl who had been undergoing treatment.

Along with the mother and the unidentified young girl, four crew members had been on the aircraft. They were on their way to Tijuana, Mexico, their hometown.

They said: “At this time, we cannot confirm any survivors. No names are being released at this time until family members have been notified.

“Our immediate concern is for the patient’s family, our personnel, their families and other victims that may have been hurt on the ground.”

Numerous injuries were reported to them on the ground, according to police officials who spoke to CBS. Whether there have been any fatalities is unknown at this time.

Emergency personnel are battling the collision’s flames on the spot.

The plane seemed to strike a number of nearby cars and structures, leaving a path of devastation in its aftermath.

The young girl was found to have been a patient of Shriners Hospitals for Children.

“The patient was being transported back to her home country in Mexico on a contracted air ambulance when the crash occurred,” the statement read. The girl had gotten care from Shriners Children’s Philadelphia.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the medical crew and pilots who were also lost in this tragic event – as well as all of the people who were affected on the ground – and we’re thankful to the first responders for their quick action.”

All of the passengers were Mexican nationals, according to confirmation from the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to flightradar data, the aircraft reported a vertical drop of -11,008 fpm after reaching an altitude of 1,650 feet.

Police and fire personnel are on the site, according to city officials, and surrounding roads have been closed.

In an interview with reporters, Mayor Cherelle Parker stated that she could not verify the number of people killed in the collision.

Parker added that the collision had damaged cars and homes and advised people to remain indoors while rescue workers cleaned up the area.

Following the accident, CNN was able to capture audio of the air traffic controller asking the jet, “Medevac med service, northeast tower. Medevac med service, northeast tower. Are you on frequency?”

The controller is heard saying, “We have a lost aircraft,” after a pause.

Residents are being advised by the Philadelphia Office of Emergency to avoid the area.

“I’ve spoken with @PhillyMayor and my team is in communication with @PhillyPD, @PhilaOEM, and @PhillyFireDept,” Governor Josh Shapiro wrote in a post on X.

“We are offering all Commonwealth resources as they respond to the small private plane crash in Northeast Philly.

“We’ll continue to provide updates as more information is available.”

“I’ve been in contact with @Philly Mayor and awaiting further information on the tragic small plane crash in Northeast Philly.” added Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania.

“For folks in the area, please follow guidance from local officials and police officers.”

Sean Duffy, the secretary of transportation, posted a photo of himself on social media and stated that he had just informed President Trump about the incident.

The statement, “So sad to see the plane go down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,” was posted by President Trump on Truth Social prior to that. “More innocent souls lost.”

“Our people are totally engaged. First Responders are already being given credit for doing a great job. More to follow. God Bless you all.”

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are looking into the collision. The probe will be headed by the NTSB.

According to a 2018 Air Med and Rescue article, Jet Rescue’s headquarters are located in Mexico City.

“Long-range critical-care air ambulance operations” are their specialty, the article said.

They have highlighted a number of instances on their website where they assisted in the transportation of newborns who had severe medical conditions.

Days have passed since an Army helicopter and an American Airlines passenger airliner collided over Washington, DC.

The terrible midair crash claimed the lives of all 67 occupants of the plane and the chopper.
